Public Outreach Meeting for the Bidwell-Sacramento River State Park

California State Parks will hold a public outreach meeting to discuss development and restoration plans of its Sacramento River Access at Pine Creek subunit within Bidwell-Sacramento River State Park. The meeting will take place at the Visitor Center at Bidwell Mansion State Historic Park, 525 Esplanade, Chico, on Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at 6:30 p.m.

“An important element of this process is gathering information from stakeholders in a public forum to identify ideas, concerns and suggestions,” said State Park Superintendent Denise Reichenberg.

An existing walnut orchard located on 41 acres is proposed to be restored to native valley oak woodland and riparian forest. In addition, a 50-space parking lot, restroom, open turf area, picnic tables and trail are being considered. Design considerations involve providing public access to the Sacramento River for fishing and boating such as those using inner tubes, kayaks and canoes.  These concepts are consistent with the Park’s General Plan adopted January 2006.
